Preparation & Aftercare

Preparation

Pre-Appointment Preparation

To ensure the best tattoo experience, it’s essential to prepare both mentally and physically before your appointment.

  • Moisturize: Begin moisturizing the area to be tattooed once daily, starting a week prior to your appointment. This will help the ink settle smoothly into the skin and aid in a more comfortable healing process.

  • Avoid Alcohol and Caffeine: Refrain from consuming large amounts of alcohol the day before your appointment, and avoid caffeine for at least two hours beforehand. Both substances thin the blood, which may increase bleeding during the session and make the process more challenging.

  • Rest and Nutrition: Be sure to get a good night’s sleep and eat a balanced meal before your appointment. A well-rested, well-nourished body will have a higher pain tolerance, making the experience more manageable.

  • Dress Comfortably: Wear loose, comfortable clothing to ensure you’re as relaxed as possible during the session.

  • Post-Appointment Care: Consider bringing a sugary snack for a quick boost during or after the session, as you may feel fatigued. Plan to take it easy for the rest of the day to support your body’s healing.

Aftercare

Tattoo Aftercare Instructions

Your tattoo will be covered with a bandage called Second Skin, which I recommend keeping on for 48-72 hours. This bandage protects the tattoo from contaminants and allows you to go about your day as usual. Although Second Skin is water-resistant, please avoid prolonged water exposure to prevent moisture from seeping in. Loose clothing over the bandage is ideal to ensure comfort.

While wearing Second Skin, you may notice a buildup of plasma and ink beneath it, which can make the tattoo look blurry—this is completely normal. The plasma actually supports the healing process.

After 48 hours: Carefully remove the bandage under lukewarm water, gently wash the area with unscented antibacterial soap, let it air dry, and apply the provided aftercare cream.

Tattoo Care Routine:

  • Week 1: Wash and moisturize three times a day.
  • Week 2: Wash and moisturize twice a day.
  • Week 3: Wash and moisturize once a day.

Important: Avoid over-moisturizing. As the tattoo is a healing wound, it needs to dry between applications to promote proper healing.

Restrictions

Post-Tattoo Care Guidelines

After your tattoo session, please refrain from the following activities to ensure proper healing:

  • Caffeine and Energy Drinks: Avoid for at least 2 hours.
  • Alcohol: Refrain from consumption for 2 days.
  • Exercise: Avoid gym activities and excessive sweating for 5 days.
  • Sauna, Swimming, and Sun Exposure: Limit these activities for 3 weeks.
  • Scratching: Do not scratch or pick at the tattoo for 4 weeks.

It is crucial to protect your tattoo from direct sun exposure, as tattooed skin can burn more easily due to the pigment. Always cover your tattoo or apply SPF 50 sunscreen to shield it from harmful UV rays.
